How do I sign for my LLC?
Learn how to sign for an LLC owned in your personal name, in a Trust, or using a DBA
Scenario #1: You Personally Own the LLC
Your ownership structure is as follows:
- The LLC is the legal party to the contract
- The Trust is the owner / managing member of the LLC
In this scenario, you would sign as either:
-
John Doe, Manager of ACME LLC
Scenario #2: You Own the LLC via a Trust
Your ownership structure is as follows:
- The LLC is the legal party to the contract
- The Trust is the owner of the LLC
So in this scenario, you would sign as either:
-
John Doe, Manager of ACME LLC, and/or
-
John Doe, Trustee of ACME Agent Trust
In either case, you are the owner. It just depends who is asking you to sign and how deep they want to go through the chain of ownership.
Scenario #3: Your LLC is using a DBA
You would simply append "DBA as Bar Industries" to the end of your LLC name as follows:
- John Doe, Manager of ACME LLC, DBA as Bar Industries
